Volunteer of the Month:
Dennis Schmidt, Equipment Manager
During the month of December the Fergus Devils would like to get back to recognizing their loyal volunteers for all of their hard work. Therefore, during the month of December the Fergus Devils would like to recognize Dennis Schmidt, our trusted and reliable Equipment Manager, as the volunteer of the month. Dennis is a long standing volunteer who has been with the Devils for the better part of a decade.
Dennis is the type of volunteer who is there from the time you get to the rink to the time you leave. Before games and practices he is first in the room putting jerseys and socks in the stalls and filling up the water bottles. After games he ensures that all the jerseys are collected and that towels have been distributed. Though Dennis makes the commitment to be at all of the teams home AND away games his biggest commitment comes during midweek practices. Dennis waits until all the players have left the change room to lock up which is around 11:30 – 11:45. However, what some people are unaware of is that Dennis has to wake up the next morning around 4:30 – 5 to get to work. On top of all that he does during games and practices Dennis is influential in orchestrating the poinsettia and chicken fundraisers that the Fergus Devils partake in every year.
Though not the loudest or most outspoken person Dennis’ laugh will fill the room when he hears a good joke or quip from one of his fellow volunteers or the guys on the team. Furthermore, whether it is running out to the bus mid game to get a player’s contacts, getting a pair of skates sharpened or any other small request Dennis looks after his players with no complaints. His dedication and commitment to the Devils is not lost among the players and we would like to take this time to say thank you for all that you do, and have done for the Devils.
Thank you Dennis!
Sincerely,
The Fergus Devils
